ALABAMA DOI ADOPTS SLIP+ FOR SURPLUS LINES

Helena, MT – The Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Office of the Montana State Auditor is adopting SLIP+ for States for the reporting and payment of all Montana surplus lines premium taxes beginning January 1, 2026.
“SLIP+ for States was built with and for the surplus lines community,” said Tiffany Andersen, Director of Client Services. “Bringing this platform to Montana reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering customer-focused solutions that streamline surplus lines reporting and strengthen the tax collection process for both brokers and regulators.”
Effective January 1, 2026 the Office of the Montana State Auditor, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI) will adopt the SLIP+ for States platform for the reporting of Montana surplus lines policies and endorsements and payment of Montana surplus lines premium taxes.
“Montana adopting SLIP+ reflects our commitment to modernizing the way our state manages surplus lines of insurance,” said Montana State Auditor James Brown. “This platform will improve efficiency for brokers, enhance transparency for regulators, and ensure accurate, timely tax collection. It’s another step in the right direction toward making Montana’s government more efficient and accountable to our taxpayers.”
